Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving Modification No. 1 to the agreement between the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. for professional engineering services for West Prairie Lee - Sewer Modeling and Design Services (RFQ No. 2022-012), for an increase of $427,406.00 with an amended not to exceed amount of $558,355.00, and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same. The modification to the scope of services will cover the final design, bidding, and construction administration to implement solutions identified in the original scope of services provided for RFQ No. 2022-012 to improve the interceptor which serves the east side of downtown.

Key Issues:
The City and Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. entered into an agreement dated January 4, 2022 (RFQ No. 2022-012) for professional engineering services for West Prairie Lee - Sewer Modeling and Design Services to evaluate the trunk sewer from downtown to where the interceptor combines with flow from the southern portion of the watershed.
The City and Engineer desire to further amend the provisions of the Base Agreement to include final design, bidding, and construction administration services.
The existing downtown interceptor currently has hydraulic impairments, such as undersized pipes, causing portions of the trunk sewer to surcharge during heavy rain events.
