Issue/Request:
This request would provide for the purchase of a specialty vehicle for the use of the fire department in regard to off road and special event EMS responses. Current operations are limited in these types of responses as the fire department has limited apparatus response options for these types of events while also complying with industry best practices involving patient treatment and confidentiality. This request would provide a resource that would allow the fire department to conform to these established standards.
Key Issues:
Current operations do not allow for conformance of best practices for special event responses, such as large festivals and off road scenarios. The request to purchase this vehicle is specialized and only one manufacturer provides for the specifications that the fire department requires.

I move to recommend to City Council approval of an Ordinance approving the award of a sole source to ASAP Off Road Specialty Vehicles, Inc. for the purchase of an advanced life support utility vehicle in the amount of $89,922.00, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same by and on behalf of the City of Lee's Summit.
