Sidewalk Gap Program Update: Proposed FY22 Construction Locations
Key Points:
- Review previous Council sidewalk gap prioritization guidance
- Review proposed FY22 Sidewalk Gap Project locations
Background:
Sidewalk gap program discussions were held with the Public Works Committee (PWC) and City Council in late 2020 and early 2021. The discussions included a presentation of sidewalk inventory, past project prioritization guidance, and introduction of alternative prioritization factors and methods for project identification. The Public Works Committee and City Council provided guidance in the development of an amended model for sidewalk gap project prioritization. This updated sidewalk gap project prioritization model was approved by the PWC and Council in early 2021.
Based on the revised prioritization guidance, City staff programmed $2.5M, over a five-year period with $500K per year beginning in FY22, into the FY22-FY26 Capital Improvement Plan. This presentation will briefly review the updated guidance and present the preliminary locations for sidewalk to be constructed in the summer and fall of 2022 as part of the Sidewalk Gap Program.
