An Ordinance approving Change Order No. 3 to the contract with MegaKC Corporation for the Jefferson Street Improvements project, an increase of $121,503.68 for a revised contract price of $2,779,713.41.

 

 

Key Issues:

                     Several contract quantities are being adjusted to match the final quantities constructed.

                     Various contract items are being added to address existing field conditions.

                     Documented costs associated with the contract time extension are being addressed with this Change Order.

 

 

Proposed Committee Motion:

I move to recommend to City Council for approval of an Ordinance approving Change Order No. 3 to the contract with MegaKC Corporation for the Jefferson Street Improvements project, an increase of $121,503.68 for a revised contract price of $2,779,713.41.

 

 

Background:

Change Order No. 3 will address several quantity adjustments identified during the project closeout process.  Additionally, at several locations, roof drains were identified that were not accounted for in the original design.  As a result, several minor design changes were required to properly collect and convey this water.   Additionally, Change Order #1 added 128 calendar days to the contract, causing the project to winter.  As a result, the contractor had additional project costs that could not have been anticipated during the bidding process.  These costs have been documented and are being addressed with this Change Order.

Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of an Ordinance approving Change Order No. 3 to the contract with MegaKC Corporation for the Jefferson Street Improvements project, an increase of $121,503.68 for a revised contract price of $2,779,713.41.
