An Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 564 for the Hangar 1 Parking Lot Expansion to MegaKC Corporation in the amount of $145,480.00, and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.

· The project will expand automobile parking capacity at Hangar 1 by twenty three parking spaces at the Municipal Airport.

FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 564 for the Hangar 1 Parking Lot Expansion to MegaKC Corporation in the amount of $145,480.00, and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.

SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 564 for the Hangar 1 Parking Lot Expansion to MegaKC Corporation in the amount of $145,480.00, and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.




Background:
The existing automotive parking area is inadequate to meet the daily demand for customers and businesses that use Hangar 1. Currently, daily parking demands are met by placing overflow automobile parking on the aircraft ramp areas. To reduce the safety risks associated with aircraft and automobile conflicts, the ramp area used for parking, plus a buffer area, must be cordoned off to restrict access to aircraft. Following the runway expansion projects, aviation activity has increased significantly despite dealing with the COVID-19 restrictions.
