Key Issues:
The water mains included in this project have exhibited increased break rates in recent years and are now due for replacement.
In total, there are approximately 15,000 feet of existing water mains that will be replaced utilizing a combination of trench and trenchless installation methods. The majority of the water mains will be installed by pipe bursting.
Proposed City Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance awarding Bid No. 34331683-C, for the Water Main Replacement - FY20 to Weidenmann, Inc., in the amount of $2,396,331.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance awarding Bid No. 34331683-C, for the Water Main Replacement - FY20 to Weidenmann, Inc., in the amount of $2,396,331.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.
Background:
This water main replacement entails performing work in the following areas: Summit Point Condos on NE Chipman Road, NE Westwind Lane, SW Blue Parkway, SE Melody Lane, SE 5th Terrace, SE Bayberry Lane, SE Hampton Street, SE Westwind Drive, SE 7th Terrace, SE 7th Place, SE Brentwood Drive, SE 3rd Terrace, SE Circleview Drive, SE Colony Drive, SE Wingate Street, SE 4th Street, SE 4th Terrace, SE 5th Street, and SE Claremont Street.
The total project budget is $3,386,000 funded from the Water Construction Fund. Wiedenmann, Inc.’s bid is less than the engineer’s estimate of $3,296,495.00. Based on review by City staff, it is our recommendation to award the construction contract for the Water Main Replacement - FY20 project to Wiedenmann, Inc.
