Key Issues:
· The sanitary sewer interceptor to be studied and then improved crosses under US Highway 50 near Executive Way serves the Western portions of Downtown Lee’s Summit and Connects to the recently improved Cedar Creek Interceptor.
· This interceptor is currently the most prone to sanitary sewer overflows during wet weather events of any the lines in our system.
· The downtown is area is poised for higher density development which the current systems are not designed to carry.
· The neighborhoods which feed into this interceptor have shown high inflow and infiltration in recent flow monitoring and are being targeted for public and private improvements.
· This interceptor has been in service since 1970 and is due for review and repair.
· This study will perform: a hydraulic analysis of this interceptor to identify bottlenecks, a condition analysis of this interceptor, a review of potential new flows from the densification of downtown and recommend improvements to the line to meet issues identified in the study.
· This study will be the backbone of the future design and construction phases of this project.
