Title
An Ordinance approving the 2022 Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners Poll Contracts for the Lovell Community Center, Harris Park Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center, and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same by and on behalf of the City. (F&BC 12/6/21)
Body
Key Issues:
Each year, the Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners (JCBEC) uses certain City and Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation owned facilities as polling places. For 2022, JCBEC has requested the use of the Lovell Community Center, Harris Park Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center for elections to be held in February, April, August and November 2022 and February 2023.
Because JCBEC is a political subdivision, Sections 70.220 and 70.230, RSMo. apply, and require the City Council to approve the agreements before the Mayor can sign them.
Proposed Council Motion:
I move for second reading of an Ordinance approving the 2022 Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners Poll Contracts for the Lovell Community Center, Harris Park Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center, and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same by and on behalf of the City.
I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving the 2022 Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners Poll Contracts for the Lovell Community Center, Harris Park Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center, and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same by and on behalf of the City.
