I think off duty officers would be better for bar security than people that we have to find to use as security. It would also allow for more police presence without the need for more uniformed officers.

Just having the police viewable on the street in the CBD would probably be plenty. It wouldn't be a club atmosphere. These would be people specifically wanting to watch the soccer matches, which historically has not been an extraordinarily exuberant bunch in the United States.

To the Lee’s Summit Police Department,
We are requesting a temporary extension of our alcohol-license operating hours during the upcoming FIFA World Cup events in Kansas City. As an established business in Downtown Lee’s Summit, our goal is to support the city’s broader hospitality efforts while providing a safe, controlled, and welcoming environment for the influx of travelers expected during the tournament.
Kansas City will be hosting visitors from around the world, many arriving from significantly different time zones. By extending our hours, we aim to offer these guests an alternative to late-night fast-food options that do not represent the strength and diversity of Lee’s Summit’s food and beverage scene. Llywelyn’s Pub is positioned to provide a comfortable, community-oriented space outside of the downtown Kansas City core, helping distribute visitor traffic more evenly across the metro. This will not only encourage economic activity in Lee’s Summit but also highlight the continued growth and vibrancy of our Downtown Entertainment District.
This request is not intended to create a “late-night party” environment. In fact, we take great pride in our commitment to responsible service and guest safety. During all high-volume events, we hire professional outside security, maintain a strict internal code of conduct, and closely follow all safety and compliance guidelines. Our entire staff is TIPS-certified and trained to identify and prevent overserving while upholding the highest standards of professionalism. Should the extension be approved, we remain fully committed to operating with the same diligence and responsibility that we apply to all major events.
Our aim is to support the city, welcome global visitors, and safely contribute to the positive economic and cultural impact the World Cup will bring to our region. We greatly appreciate your consideration and are happy to provide any additional information needed.
Respectfully,
Chris Davies - Llywelyn’s Pub – Downtown Lee’s Summit
