An Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 721-1 for the Water Main Replacement FY23 Project to Wiedenmann, Inc. in the amount of $3,598,602.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same. 

 

Key Issues:

                     As directed by the FY23 CIP, there are continued efforts to maintain and strengthen the City's water distribution system.

                     Approximately 12,800 feet of existing water mains will be replaced utilizing pipe bursting under the Water Main Replacement FY23 Project (hereinafter "Project No. 721-1"). 

                     The total project budget for Project No. 721-1 is funded from the Water Construction Fund.

                     Public Works Engineering issued an advertisement for bids for the construction of Project No. 721-1 on January 5, 2024, guided by local policies and state statutes.

                     Wiedenmann, Inc. (hereinafter "Contractor") was determined to be the lowest and best bidder by City staff.

                     The City desires to enter into an agreement with the Contractor to construct Project No. 721-1.

I move to recommend to City Council for approval of an Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 721-1 for the Water Main Replacement FY23 Project to Wiedenmann, Inc. in the amount of $3,598,602.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.

SECOND MOTION:  I move for adoption of an Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 721-1 for the Water Main Replacement FY23 Project to Wiedenmann, Inc. in the amount of $3,598,602.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.

 

 

Background:

This water main replacement project entails performing work in the following areas: NW Frances Road, NW Donovan Road, NW Dunlap Drive, NW Libby Lane, NE Yorkshire Circle, NW O'Brien Road, NW Redwing Drive, NW Walnut Street, NW Gibson Road, NW Noel Street, SE Miller Street, SE Douglas Street, and SE Hampton Court.

 

The total project budget is $4,000,000 funded from the Water Construction Fund. 

 

 

Impact/Analysis:

Public Works Engineering advertised for bids Project No. 721-1 on , January 5, 2024.  Potential bidders were notified through QuestCDN and on the City website. Three (3) responsive bids were received by the February 16, 2024, bid opening date.  Public Works Engineering and Water Utilities staff reviewed the bid and Wiedenman, Inc. was determined to be the lowest and most responsive bidder.

 

 

Timeline:

Estimated construction start date:  April 15, 2024 with 270 calendar days to substantial completion (90 days after substantial completion to be ready for final payment)
