Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving Amendment No. 8 to the budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2024, as adopted by Ordinance No. 9704, Ordinance No. 9705, Ordinance No. 9706, Ordinance No. 9707, and Ordinance No. 9708, by amending the authorized expenditures for the City.
Key Issues:
-This Budget Amendment gives the Public Works department additional authorized spending authority for the temporary access needed for Quarry Park Road
-Due to underlying conditions a section of Quarry Park Road had to be closed
- An unexpected mine collapse under the road has put the roadway in danger of imminent collapse.
- A temporary access must be provided to residents residing west of the road closure
- A long-term solution requires the construction of a connection between old Noland Road and the Access Road to Century Concrete
-Wiedenmann Construction, a vendor under contract with the City, has been identified as the vendor to perform the work
-The cost quoted to perform the work is $128,300
-The Budget Amendment will use General Fund balances and increase the Public Works authorized expenditures

I move for a second reading of an Ordinance approving Amendment No. 8 to the budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2024, as adopted by Ordinance No. 9704, Ordinance No. 9705, Ordinance No. 9706, Ordinance No. 9707, and Ordinance No. 9708, by amending the authorized expenditures for the City.
