Issue/Request:
This request would provide for the purchase of a Command Post, a specialty vehicle, for the use of the Police Department in a variety of scenarios. Its size and the incorporation of workspace and technology make it suitable for the following:
· Incident command at the scene of critical events.
· Serious injury and fatality accidents
· Special Events (Oktoberfest, Downtown Days, Legacy Blast)
· Police initiated enforcement efforts (SNAP, Crash Reduction Project)
· Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) deployments
Our current responses to events such as these (and numerous others) are limited as they apply to a workspace that is out of public view, out of the elements, and technologically advanced enough to interface with current resources. This request would solve that and allow for more efficient service to the public.
Key Issues:
Vandoit, located in Blue Springs, Missouri, is a Ford Ship-Through dealer for Transit Vans. They have a 2023 Ford T-350 currently in stock and on hand that they are holding for this project. If the van were to be purchased from the manufacturer, it would be a late 2025 delivery, which doesn’t consider the build-out time for the interior. The purchase price of the vehicle is equal to or less than the manufacturer's MSRP.
The interior and exterior build-out itemized in the quote will be conducted at Vandoit metropolitan location of 2925 NW State HWY 7 in Blue Springs, Missouri. They have completed similar work for other metro police agencies, and their location would provide the Police Department and Fleet unprecedented access, input, and oversight of the project.
