Issue/Request:
The Crisis Intervention Program Grant (CIPG) is available to local government agencies through the Missouri Department of Public Safety. The Lee's Summit Police Department applied and was awarded $9,675.15 to use towards our Co-Responder program that will provide updated and additional computer equipment as well as iPad's to use out in the field to provide on scene telehealth services and the ability to track information and data more effectively.

Proposed City Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for second reading of Ordinance authorizing the execution of an agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and the Missouri Department of Public Safety in the amount of $9,675.15 for equipment for the Lee's Summit Police Department's Co-responders and authorizing the Mayor to execute an agreement for the same.

SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of Ordinance authorizing the execution of an agreement between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and the Missouri Department of Public Safety in the amount of $9,675.15 for equipment for the Lee's Summit Police Department's Co-responders and authorizing the Mayor to execute an agreement for the same.

Background:
The Missouri Department of Public Safety dispersed funds to multiple agencies as part of the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP). The program's objective is to further the Missouri Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Department of Justice's mission in assisting state and local efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence with a particular focus on gun violence.
