Title

An Ordinance approving acceptance of the 2023 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) in the amount of $10,952.00 and ratifying the Mayor’s execution of a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Jackson County Missouri to provide the grant funds.

Issue/Request:

The City received notice that it has been awarded a JAG Grant in the amount of $10,952.00.  The grant is to be used for crime prevention and control as well as improvement of the criminal justice system.  The notice was provided very late and with an extremely short turn around.  In order to accept the grant it was necessary for the Mayor to execute the Memorandum of Understanding on very short notice.  This ordinance accepts the grant award and ratifies the Mayor's execution of the MOU.

Proposed City Council Motion:

I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving acceptance of the 2023 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) in the amount of $10,952.00 and ratifying the Mayor’s execution of a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Jackson County Missouri to provide the grant funds.
