Presentation: 2023 Citizen's Leadership Academy Graduation Recognition

The first Citizens Leadership Academy was held in 2011, in response to a suggestion from LS 360. An Academy has been held every year except 2015 and 2021, making this the 11th graduating class.
Participants in the 2023 Academy will be presented a certificate of completion as they "graduate" from the academy before the Mayor and Council.
The 2023 Citizens Leadership Academy began with 16 applications. Of those 16 we had 8 participants enrolled in the Academy that were able to attend a majority of the sessions and thereby successfully "graduating" from the Academy. The final session, held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, included a mock city council meeting for the Pseudo City. They discussed things such as; a medical marijuana dispensary special use permit, a preliminary development plan for a mega box store, a feral cat ordinance and much more. Participants held the positions of Mayor, Councilmember and a variety of staff positions.
City Staff stepped up again this year and enthusiastically participated in this program and the participants saw the dedication and professionalism of each presenter.
The continued support and promotion of this program by City Council and staff is greatly appreciated.
