Issue/Request:

Requesting approval of Ordinance adopting the City of Lee's Summit Emergency Operation Plan

 

Key Issues:

 

Lee's Summit faces many types of man-made or natural hazards can pose safety risks to our community and the protection of people and property within our jurisdiction. Emergency response and management are essential functions of local government.

 

The Emergency Operations Plan ("EOP") provides the framework for emergency response and emergency management in the City during disasters; and Chapter 10 of the City Ordinance maintain and revise EOP.

 

Proposed City Council Motion:

I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving the Emergency Operations Plan for the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and amending Section 10.7 Emergency Operations Plan of the Code of Ordinances to reflect the adoption of the new plan.

 

Background:

During 2022-2023, the City of Lee's Summit Emergency Management Committee conducted review and revision of the City of Lee's Summit Emergency Operations Plan. This plan fully updates and modernizes the City's EOP and will allow for greater interoperability with Emergency Management partners.
