Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving the award of Bid No. 2023-029 to purchase masonry services and repair on an as-needed basis for a one year term with up to four one year renewals to MTS Contracting Inc. and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.
Key Issues:
• The City has multiple buildings with brick or stone exteriors that require regular maintenance.
• Without proper maintenance mold, decay and leaks can occur.
• Having a qualified contractor under contract allows for quick repair and maintenance as needed.
Background:
As part of our Facility Condition Assessments, the exterior envelope of our facilities were examined and many were found to be in need of repair. We just completed a large project at City Hall to repair a very large area of exterior brick where mortar joints were failing and efflorescence was a major problem. Through this process, it became clear having a company under contract to work on these issues as needed would be beneficial.
