Title
An Ordinance amending Chapter 33, Unified Development Ordinance, Articles 6, 8, and 15 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to accommodate recent changes to the Missouri Constitution regarding medical marijuana and marijuana. (CEDC 1/11/23)
Body
Issue/Request:
The voters of Missouri approved an amendment to the state constitution legalizing recreational marijuana on November 8, 2022. The City needs to adjust various ordinances to accommodate the legalization, including Chapter 33, the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). New uses have been introduced that required placement in the UDO’s use table. Location controls that require a 1000’ buffer from schools, churches and daycares have not changed with the state legislation. Rather, the state has better defined how the buffer is measured.
Motion:
I move for a second reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 33, Unified Development Ordinance, Articles 6, 8, and 15 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to accommodate recent changes to the Missouri Constitution regarding medical marijuana and marijuana.
