Issue/Request:
An Ordinance amending Chapter 6, Aviation, Article II, Board of Aeronautic Commissioners of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit Missouri regarding the Board of Aeronautic Commissioners.

Key Issues:
· The City recently enacted Ordinance 9538 which sets forth new rules for the conduct of business by City boards, committees, and commissions.
· Changes to the Board of Aeronautic Commissioners (“Board”) are desired to align the Board with the current needs of the City and the Airport and necessary to align the Board with Ordinance 9538.


Proposed City Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance amending Chapter 6, Aviation, Article II, Board of Aeronautic Commissioners of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit Missouri regarding the Board of Aeronautic Commissioners.

SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance amending Chapter 6, Aviation, Article II, Board of Aeronautic Commissioners of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit Missouri regarding the Board of Aeronautic Commissioners.


Background:
Changes to the Board of Aeronautic Commissioners (“Board”) are desired to align the Board with the current needs of the City and the Airport and necessary to align the Board with Ordinance 9538. These changes include, but are not limited, to the following:
· Removing voting rights of the City Council Liaison.
· Increasing the number of voting members from eight (8) to nine (9) since the voting rights of the Council Liaison has been removed.
· Decreasing member terms from four (4) years to three (3) years.
· Align the Board's duties with other citizen boards in the City.
