The City of Lee’s Summit has laid out the Ignite strategic plan, whereby the City has a goal for educational partnership expansion and cultural diversity. Student representatives from Summit Tech's Global Prep Squad will present to the City Council a student led initiative for a sister city relationship with Ibague Columbia. A sister city partnership is an agreement between two cities in two separate countries that looks to improve cultural, commercial, and business ties . Sister cities have been shown to improve relationships, and enhance cultural and educational opportunities within the two cities.
There is a resolution later on the agenda asking for the Council's support of this community led Ignite Strategic Plan initiative.
