Title

A Resolution granting the City Council’s consent pursuant to City Charter Section 3.10(e) to the appointment of Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys for the prosecution of municipal violation of city ordinances before the Lee’s Summit Municipal Court.

Body

Recently, the City Attorney completed hiring processes for both the Assistant City Prosecutor and the Chief of Litigation.  Jane Laughlin was hired to serve as the Assistant City Prosecutor and Jo Leigh Fischer was hired to be the Chief of Litigation.  Jane will be working part time under the supervision of the City Prosecutor, Abby Pennell.  Jo Leigh will be primarily working on various City litigation but she also has extensive prosecution experience and she will be able to serve easily as a prosecutor from time to time as needed.  The City Charter section 3.10(e) requires that any attorney seeking to prosecute in the Lee's Summit Municipal Court be approved via the advice and consent of the City Council.  The City Attorney recommends that the City Council consent to the appointment of Jane Laughlin and Jo Leigh Fischer as Assistant City Prosecutors.
