An Ordinance authorizing execution of a Memorandum of Understanding by and between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and the Lee's Summit R-7 School District for the DARE/IMPACT program.
Key Issues:
The City and the District desire to define their relationship and duties regarding implementation of the DARE/IMPACT program at District schools.

I move for adoption of an Ordinance authorizing execution of a Memorandum of Understanding by and between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri and the Lee's Summit R-7 School District for the DARE/IMPACT program.
Background:
The City receives funding for the DARE/IMPACT program through the Jackson County COMBAT Commission. Both parties desire to define their relationship and duties regarding implementation of the DARE program and newly developed IMPACT program at District schools.
Impact/Analysis:
Under the MOU, LSPD will provide four officers, who are DARE/IMPACT certified, to provide DARE/IMPACT instruction at the District's elementary and middle schools.
The District has already signed the MOU, and therefore it will take effect on the date the City signs it. The initial term of the MOU expires July 31, 2023, but the MOU will automatically renew in one-year terms each year as long as the City obtains funding for the DARE/IMPACT program.
