Providing generally that the requirements for appointment to any City Boards, Committees, and Commissions also applies to reappointments.

In March of this year the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 9375 providing rules related to the appointment of Board and Commission members. Specifically, the rule provides for the information required of applicants for appointment to advisory Boards and Commissions. This ordinance, however, is ambiguous as to whether or not it applies to reappointments. However following some discussion of the City Council, staff has requested that persons eligible for reappointment update their original application information. Chairperson Felker has requested that the Committee consider whether or not a rule amendment is necessary. A copy of the previous amendment has been included in your packet.
Update 8-8-2022: At the July meeting of the Rules Committee, staff was asked to prepare an ordinance clarifying that the application for appointment to a board, committee or commission equally applies to reappointments. That ordinance is attached.
Proposed Motion: I move that item 2022-5048 entitled An Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri by amending Section 2-254. Application for Appointment to Boards, Committees and Commissions - Content. Providing generally that the requirements for appointment to any City Boards, Committees, and Commissions also applies to reappointments be advanced to the City Council with a recommendation of approval.
