Body

Issue/Request:

An Ordinance approving the award of Bid No. 2022-050 to Mechanical Piping, LLC to purchase plumbing services and materials on an as-needed basis for a one-year term with up to four, one-year renewals, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.

Key Issues:

The City has a need for plumbing services on an as-needed basis for minor repairs, emergency breaks, upgrades, and new installation of new plumbing fixtures.

The current contract for plumbing services and materials expires June 17, 2022.

This contract for plumbing services and materials would become effective on June 18, 2022 for one year with four (4) one-year renewal options.

Proposed Committee Motion:

I move to recommend to City Council for approval an Ordinance approving the award of Bid No. 2022-050 to Mechanical Piping, LLC to purchase plumbing services and materials on an as-needed basis for a one-year term with up to four, one-year renewals, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.

Background:

The City has had a plumbing materials and services contract in place for many years.  Among other things, the contract was used during the City's response to the pandemic to install touch-less water fountains, flush valves, and many other behind the scenes updates.

The historical spend on this contract for the past four years: FY22 (YTD) $75,650, FY21 $337,240 (includes $150,000 for CARES Act projects), FY20 $35,690, and FY19 $106,180.  Several departments across the City use the contract.

Expended funds are approved through the regular budget process.
