An Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 496-1 for the Water Main Replacement FY22 - First Phase Project to Wiedenmann, Inc. in the amount of $3,818,177.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.
Key Issues:
• As directed by the FY22 CIP, there are continued efforts to maintain and strengthen the City's water distribution system.
• Approximately 25,000 feet of existing water mains will be replaced utilizing pipe bursting under the Water Main Replacement FY22 - First Phase Project (hereinafter "Project No. 496-1").
• The total project budget for Project No. 496-1 is funded from the Water Construction Fund.
• PWE issued an advertisement for bids for the construction of Project No. 496-1 on March 9, 2022, guided by local policies and state statutes.
• Wiedenmann, Inc. (hereinafter "Contractor") was determined to be the lowest and best bidder by City staff.
• The City desires to enter into an agreement with the Contractor to construct Project No. 496-1.

Background:
This water main replacement project entails performing work in the following areas: SW Yost Avenue, SW 9th Street, Highway Lane Addition, Vista del Verde, SE Blue Parkway, M-291, NE Chipman Road, NE Banner Drive, and NE Ridgeview Drive.
The total project budget is $4,640,000 funded from the Water Construction Fund.
Impact/Analysis:
Public Works Engineering advertised for bids Project No. 496-1 on March 9, 2022. Potential bidders were notified through QuestCDN and on the City website. One (1) responsive bid was received by the March 30, 2022, bid opening date. Public Works Engineering and Water Utilities staff reviewed the bid and Wiedenmann, Inc. was determined to be the lowest and most responsive bidder.
Timeline:
Estimated construction start date: May 2022 with 300 calendar days to substantial completion (90 days after substantial completion to be ready for final payment)
