Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving a Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission Amendment to State Block Grant Agreement, Amendment #3 for Project No. 16-109A-1 by and between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, for extending the grant expiration date to September 1, 2022, for assisting with relocation and extension of taxiway A at the Lee's Summit Municipal airport and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same.

I move to recommend to City Council approval of an Ordinance approving a Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission Amendment to State Block Grant Agreement, Amendment #3 for Project No. 16-109A-1 by and between the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, for extending the grant expiration date to September 1, 2022, for assisting with relocation and extension of taxiway A at the Lee's Summit Municipal airport and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same.
Background:
The Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport received a grant for $6,234,005.00 for the relocation and extension of taxiway A. During the process of closing out the project, it was determined additional time was required to complete the project. Amendment #2 extended the grant expiration date from December 31, 2019 to December 31, 2021. As a result of the unsatisfactory restoration of grass, the project could not be closed out by the amended grant expiration date. This amendment will extend the grant expiration date to September 1, 2022. In order received all available grant funds, this amendment must be approved by the City Council.
