This item is a continued discussion on residential fence materials.
Background:
At the August 11, 2021 CEDC meeting, staff presented the UDO's residential fence material standards to the CEDC for discussion in response to concerns over the appearance of recently constructed fences using multiple materials. The CEDC directed staff to research the fence standards in other cities. Staff has provided the fence standards from Overland Park, Olathe, Leawood and Independence. Independence is the only City amongst the four researched that restricts the number of materials used in fence construction, limiting them to two different materials.
