Report on establishing a Health Department
Body
The City Council requested that the staff gather information relating to the possible creation of a City of Lee's Summit Health Department. Staff has conducted initial research into the issue and will be presenting the following:
Comparison of Missouri Municipal Health Departments
Overview of potential scope of services
Cost comparison based upon levels of service and population
Authority to create Health Department
Funding Sources
Process for creation
Based upon this information, the City Council will need to provide direction as it relates to whether or not to establish a Health Department and if so what level of services that Department would provide.
Recommendation
Staff will be seeking further direction from the City Council based upon this information.
