Issue/Request:
An Ordinance awarding the bid for Project No. 57831683-21 for the Cathodic Protection Program FY21 to Kantex Industries, Inc. in the amount of $397,883 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement of the same.
Key Issues:
? Ductile iron water mains were installed in the Bent Tree, Amli at Summit Ridge, Saddlebrook and Windsboro areas from the 1980's to the early 2000's.
? Due to corrosion of iron pipe, sixty water main breaks have occurred in the these areas since 2006.
? To reduce the rate of corrosion and extend the service life of the water mains in these areas, 470 zinc anodes will be installed with this project as part of this year's Cathodic Protection Program (hereinafter "Project No. 57831683-21").
? Water Utilities issued an advertisement for bids for the construction of Project No. 57831683-21 on June 7, 2021, in accordance with local policies and state statutes.
? Kantex Industries, Inc. (hereinafter "Contractor") was found to be the lowest and most responsive bidder by City staff.
? The City desires to enter into an agreement with the Contractor to construct Project No. 57831683-21.
