Issue/Request:

An Ordinance approving the 2021 Combat Drug Commission DARE Agreement by and between the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Jackson County, Missouri, and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same by and on behalf of the City.

 

Key Issues

The City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri (“City”) has requested funding from Jackson County, Missouri’s (“County”) Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds to assist the City in defraying certain costs of its Drug Abuse Resistance Education (“DARE”) or similar anti-drug program.

 

Jackson County’s COMBAT Drug Commission recommended and the Jackson County Legislature approved the City’s request as an appropriate expenditure of Anti-Drug  Sales Tax Funds.

 

Jackson County will grant funding in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00), pursuant to the terms of the attached agreement,  to the City to use towards expenses of the City’s DARE or similar anti-drug program.

 

Proposed Committee Motion:

I move to recommend to City Council for approval an Ordinance authorizing the execution of the 2021 Combat Drug Commission DARE Agreement by and between the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Jackson County, Missouri.

 

 

Impact/Analysis:

Jackson County will grant funding in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) pursuant to the terms of the attached agreement that will provide funds for personnel and supplies for the Lee's Summit Police Department's DARE program.
