Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving the use of a Cooperative Contract between the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Turn-Key Mobile, Inc., to purchase computer and network technology as needed and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.
Key Issues:
-The City has a need to purchase computers and network technology equipment for use in police vehicles
-The current cooperative contract to purchase computers and network technology from Turn-Key Mobile has expired
-The primary use of the contract is to purchase Panasonic Toughbook laptops used by police and fire staff that work primarily out of vehicles
-The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office awarded the bid for the necessary items to Turn-Key Mobile and the contract allows other public agencies to Piggyback
-Under the Procurement Policy 6.1 Cooperative Purchasing - the City can piggyback on public agency contracts when allowed by the contract
Proposed Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for second reading of an Ordinance approving the use of a Cooperative Contract between the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Turn-Key Mobile, Inc., to purchase computer and network technology as needed and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving the use of a Cooperative Contract between the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Turn-Key Mobile, Inc., to purchase computer and network technology as needed and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.
Background:
The City was using a cooperative contract to purchase from Turn-Key Mobile; the contract has expired. Jasper County Sheriff’s Office awarded a contract for the needed items to Turn-Key Mobile, Inc.
Impact/Analysis:
Use of this contract would be based on the annual appropriations approved by the City Council.

Staff recommends approval of an Ordinance approving the use of a Cooperative Contract between the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Turn-Key Mobile, Inc., to purchase computer and network technology as needed and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for the City.
