Background:
In December of 2020, the City Council authorized the elimination of the allocation of a full time equivalent (FTE) of the position of Chief of Infrastructure and Planning (.75 FTE), eliminated the FTE for the Chief of litigation (.5 FTE), created a new position known as the Chief of Special Projects and allocated a .25 FTE to that position and finally created a new position known as the Chief of Infrastructure and Recreation and allocated a 1.0 FTE. This bill continues the efforts of the Law Department to reorganize to meet the City's need for legal assistance by removing the .25 FTE for the Chief of Special Projects and allocating a 1.0 FTE to the Chief of Litigation. This position can be funded through budget savings for the remainder of this fiscal year. However, the increase in allocation will increase the overall Law Department Budget for the next fiscal year.
Proposed City Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance approving Amendment No. 13 to the budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2021, as adopted by Ordinance No. 8905 and Ordinance No. 8906, by amending the authorized amount of Full Time Equivalent positions in the Law Department for the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving Amendment No. 13 to the budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2021, as adopted by Ordinance No. 8905 and Ordinance No. 8906, by amending the authorized amount of Full Time Equivalent positions in the Law Department for the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
