Title

A Resolution approving the appointment of Ryan Elam to represent the City of Lee's Summit on the Jackson County Reinvestment Fund Steering Committee.

Body

Issue/Request:

A Resolution approving the appointment of Ryan Elam  to represent the City of Lee's Summit on the Jackson County Reinvestment Fund Steering Committee.

Proposed City Council Motion:

I move for adoption of a Resolution approving the appointment of Ryan Elam  to represent the City of Lee's Summit on the Jackson County Reinvestment Fund Steering Committee.

Background:

Jackson County and Kansas City, Missouri are working towards an assessment system upgrade.  Once complete they intend to share the information with all of the cities in the County.  This is an analysis of all of the existing housing stock in Jackson County.  This data will be used to better isolate housing values that may vary greatly while being located in the same zip code or census tract.  It may also be used to guide overall housing policy such as proactive property code enforcement or minor home repair.

The Reinvestment Fund has requested a steering committee be formed to answer questions, provide guidance and help with data refinement as they go through the analysis.

This group will be made up of a few key stakeholders:

1.                     County and municipal officials who have access to, and insight into, the underlying data used to create the MVA;

2.                     County and municipal officials who will be end users of the MVA to guide community development activities throughout the county;

3.                     Non-profit and for-profit developers or CDCs who have knowledge of local real estate markets and interest using the results of the MVA;

4.                     Financial institutions that actively finance community development activities in the county.
