Body
Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving Amendment No. 3 to the Budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2021, as adopted by Ordinance No. 8905 and Ordinance No. 8906, by amending the authorized expenditures in the Water Tap Fund and the Water Construction Fund for the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Key Issues:
Lee’s Summit Water Utilities has a proposed development agreement with Woods Custom Homes for the extension of a 12” water main to Woodlawn Estates located in southwest corner of the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Missouri Route 7.

This work was not anticipated during the creation of the current Capital Improvements Plan. The work will be paid for by the Utility's Water Construction and Water Tap Fee Programs, and be completed by Lee’s Summit Water personnel with the exception of possible fence replacement and concrete road patching.

The City’s development agreement with Woods Custom Homes specifies the construction of 2 water main extensions. The Phase 1 water main will be designed and constructed by the City of Lee’s Summit and the Phase 2 water main will be designed and constructed by the developer at future date dependent on the development of the commercially platted lots shown in the development agreement exhibits.

The completion of this work will allow for the addition of this development to the Lee’s Summit water service area, and the Phase 1 and Phase 2 water mains complete a loop at the edge of our service boundary and allows for future connections to better serve existing and possibly future customers.
