Title

Presentation and Discussion - Homeless and Transient population in Lee's Summit

Body

Issue/Request:

Staff and elected officials have received concerns regarding matters related to homeless and transient individuals in Lee's Summit.  The purpose of the presentation and discussion is to begin a process of evaluation and community dialogue regarding a coordinated effort to respond to community concerns as they arise, and begin to connect available resources across a multi-faceted and multi-discipline approach.

Key Issues:

The goal of the presentation and discussion is to:

1.  Create an awareness, education and understanding of the homeless and transient population

2.  Review and evaluate current efforts and resources available to assist with responding to concerns or needs of homeless and transient individuals

3.  Explore and discuss a "stakeholder coalition" approach or framework to evaluate current responses and resources and develop recommendations to enhance effectiveness of response and resources.

Proposed City Council Motion:

No motion necessary - purpose is for discussion and general feedback from the Community and Economic Development Committee prior to taking any additional steps or efforts toward this initiative.
