Review and Discussion of Community and Economic Development Committee authorities and duties

Issue/Request:
The City Council Rules Committee has undertaken a review of the authorities and duties of each of City Council committee. The Rules Committee has asked that the Chair and members of each committee as well as staff liaisons and staff who present to a committee to review the scope of authority and make comments. Specifically, one item of interest is the extent to which a committee wants/needs authority to consider and recommend various types of contracts.
Key Issues:
At the request of the City Council Rules Committee, staff has placed this item on the Community and Economic Development Committee (CEDC) agenda for review and discussion. The goal of this review is to develop any suggested revisions or suggestions to the existing authorities and duties of the CEDC. Staff has attached the current duties and responsibilities from the Lee's Summit Code of Ordinances to this packet for review and consideration.
Proposed City Council Motion:
No motion necessary - discussion purposes to obtain CEDC suggested revisions and feedback which will be passed along to the Rules Committee as requested.
