Title

Recommendation from the Human Relations Commission regarding Todd George Road and Boulevard.

Body

At the last meeting of the Human Relations Commission, information was presented and discussion was held related to the possible renaming of both Todd George Road and Todd George Boulevard.  The Human Relations Commission wishes to present this information and a recommendation to the City Council.

Generally, two procedures currently exist that could result in a street name change.  The first is the UDO provision that typically has been used by citizens and developers wishing to change the name of a city street. In the absence of any other process, that process would apply to the City as well.  Please find the applicable UDO provision attached.  The second method would be for the citizens to begin the initiative petition process and would include an election.  Alternatively, the Council has the option to create a new process applying only to a street name change initiated by the City utilizing the legislative authority of the City Council.
