Proposed Committee Motion:
I move to recommend to City Council for approval an Ordinance approving a Public Service Agreement between the City of Lee's Summit and Velocity Lee's Summit, Inc. for the appropriation of Coronavirus Relief Funds to be used to provide economic assistance to small businesses and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same on behalf of the City.
Proposed Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for second reading of an Ordinance approving a Public Service Agreement between the City of Lee's Summit and Velocity Lee's Summit, Inc. for the appropriation of Coronavirus Relief Funds to be used to provide economic assistance to small businesses and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same on behalf of the City.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving a Public Service Agreement between the City of Lee's Summit and Velocity Lee's Summit, Inc. for the appropriation of Coronavirus Relief Funds to be used to provide economic assistance to small businesses and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same on behalf of the City.
Background:
$225,000 is being recommended to be set aside for Small Business Assistance, to be administered by Velocity Lee's Summit, Inc.
With the support of the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce, Lee's Summit Economic Development Council, Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street and individual volunteers from the Lee's Summit community, Velocity is proposing to provide grants up to $5,000 to eligible businesses for the purpose of offsetting losses and expenses incurred as a result of the public health emergency with respect to COVID-19.
