Body

Issue/Request:

An Ordinance approving the use of a Cooperative Contract between Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City (MCC) and G&C Restoration, LLC, DBA SERVPRO of Lee’s Summit, to purchase disaster recovery services as needed and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for and on behalf of the City.

Key Issues:

-In the event of a disaster, fire, waterline failure, etc., at a City facility there would be a need for Disaster Recovery Services to clean the facility and return it to a safe operational condition.

-The City currently does not have a contract in place for this type of service. The City is taking a proactive approach by establishing this contract and may not need to use it.

-The solicitation was processed by Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City and included piggyback language that allows other public entities to use the same contract.

-Section 6.1 of the Procurement policy allows the City to use contracts with Piggyback language.

-ServPro will coordinate and develop response plans for each of the City's facilities.

Proposed City Council Motion:

I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving the use of a Cooperative Contract between Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City (MCC) and G&C Restoration, LLC, DBA SERVPRO of Lee’s Summit, to purchase disaster recovery services as needed and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same for and on behalf of the City.

Background:

The City currently does not have a contract in place for disaster recovery services.  ServPro will work with the Central Building Services staff to identify and prepare response plans for each of the City's facilities.   This would put the City in a good position to respond to a fire, water line break, or other disaster that would happen at a City facility.

Impact/Analysis:

Putting the contract in place would allow the City to respond immediately to a Disaster at a City Facility.

Timeline:

Contract would start once executed and renew annually for four years.
