Title
An Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the City of Lee’s Summit and the Jackson County Public Water Supply District No. 13, the provision of and the termination of water service and sewer service and exchange of information.
(NOTE: First reading by City Council on April 14, 2020. Passed by unanimous vote.)
Body
Key Issues:
For many years, Jackson County Public Water Supply No. 13 has provided Lee’s Summit Water Utilities with its meter reads for the billing of sewer services. No formal agreement has existed for the transfer of meter reads. Additionally, collection of delinquent sewer accounts has been limited due to the ability to terminate sewer services without significant challenges.
The intergovernmental agreement provides the following benefits:
• Transfer of water meter reads for sewer billing
• Coordination of customer information
• Simplification of collections for sewer services
• Formalizes actions in compliance with state statutes
Proposed City Council Motion:
I move for adoption of an Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the City of Lee’s Summit and the Jackson County Public Water Supply District No. 13, the provision of and the termination of water service and sewer service and exchange of information.
