Issue/Request:
An Ordinance approving Amendment No. 10 to the Budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2020, as adopted by Ordinance No. 8643 and Ordinance No. 8652, by amending the authorized expenditures in the Fire Department for the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Key Issues:
On January 31, 2020, Secretary Alex Azar of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, declared a public health emergency to address the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). COVID-19 is contagious and can be fatal, and continues to spread within Missouri and the Kansas City region thereby endangering the employees and people of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
The Fire Department identified portable decontamination units, accessories, and disinfectant solution to be used in vehicles and facilities to protect the health and safety of its employees and the public. On March 17, 2020, the City Council approved and adopted Emergency Ordinance No. 8853, which authorized the purchase of the decontamination equipment and disinfecting solution. The purpose of this budget amendment is to amend the Fire Department's budget to include the increase in authorized expenditures for that purchase.

I move to recommend to City Council for approval of an Ordinance approving Amendment No. 10 to the Budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2020, as adopted by Ordinance No. 8643 and Ordinance No. 8652, by amending the authorized expenditures in the Fire Department for the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
