Title

Discussion on activity to build intergovernmental relations with neighboring municipalities.

Body

Issue/Request:

Chair Edson  brought an idea to LIRC to strengthen the relationships between the neighboring municipality elected officials. She suggested that the City of Lee's Summit find a way to host a breakfast social event for the Mayors and City Councilmembers of Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, Independence, and Raytown. It has also been suggested that we invite the Mayor and City Councilmembers of the City of Kansas City.  Chip Moxley, Tingle Flooring has offered his meeting space located in his distribution / office building, as the location to host the event. He has also agreed to pay for the costs associated with catering the event.

Chair Edson will be seeking the committee’s recommendation to seek the City Council’s support for this activity. The target date will be during a weekday morning in November 2019.

Proposed Committee Motion:

I move that we recommend to the City Council the “Intergovernmental Relations Breakfast” for area community Mayors, City Councilmembers, Board of Aldermen, and City Managers / Administrators.
