Key Issues:
The water mains included in this project will replace existing 3-inch lines with 12-inch lines. The primary purpose of the project is to strengthen the system.
In total, there are approximately 4,100 feet of existing water mains that will be replaced.
Proposed City Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance awarding Bid No. 43431683-C, for the Water Main Replacement FY19 - Harris Road to J & N Utilities, Inc., in the amount of $387,800.80 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance awarding Bid No. 43431683-C, for the Water Main Replacement FY19 - Harris Road to J & N Utilities, Inc., in the amount of $387,800.80 and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement for the same.
Background:
Water Main Replacement FY19 - Harris Road entails performing work in the following areas: Harris Road from Haines Road to Herring Road.
The total project budget is $504,000.00 funded from the Water Construction, Water Tap, and District 14 Funds. J & N Utilities, Inc.’s bid is less than the engineer’s estimate of $491,210.73. Based on review by City staff, it is our recommendation to award the construction contract for the Water Main Replacement - FY19 project to J & N Utilities, Inc.
Other Information/Unique Characteristics:
Public Works Engineering issued Bid No. 43431683-C on March 14, 2019. The bid was advertised and potential bidders were notified through QuestCDN, on the City website, and in a broadcast e-mail to known contractors. A pre-bid conference was held on March 25, 2019.
