Title

Discussion of Streets Outside City's Jurisdiction

Body

Issue/Request:

Discuss options for improved maintenance of streets not within Lee's Summit city limits

Key Issues:

*Lee's Summit receives many complaints about the condition of roads used by residents that are actually outside the City's jurisdiction

*Requests of other agencies for better maintenance have generally not been successful

*Council members wish to discuss options that may be available for working with the other agencies to resolve the situation

Proposed Committee Motion:

I move to recommend to City Council

Background:

Lee's Summit council members and staff receive numerous complaints about the condition of roads such as View High, Lee's Summit Road, County Line Road and US 50. Staff has contacted the agenceis responsible for maintenance of those roads but have had little success with getting improved maintenance of the facilities. Council has requested a discussion of options that could resolve this issue and the pros and cons of the various options.

Other Information/Unique Characteristics:

Dealing with KCMO, MoDOT and Cass Co. has significant challenges.
