An Ordinance amending Section 2-60.22.- Rule 2.2 Public Comments. of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to clarify that members of the public wishing to address the City Council of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri during City Council meetings must limit comments to topics on the agenda or general subjects related to the operations of the City of Lee's Summit and further providing for the manner. This provision would limit the public comment portion of the agenda. It would allow any member of the public to address the Council on any item of business on the agenda and would further allow the public to comment on any topic related to the operations of the City. Additionally, this provision further explains the use of the Request to Comment Card and information to be provided.
At the August meeting of the City Council Rules Committee, members of the Committee discussed the possibility of limiting the topics allowed during the Public Comment portion of the agenda. The Law Department, after extensive research, provided a draft ordinance for review at the November 1 meeting of the City Council Rules Committe. That draft was revised and recommended for approval at the meeting.
