Issue/Request:
The applicant requests approval for one monument sign with a sign face of 82.83 sq. ft. and overall structure area of 131.0 sq. ft. The maximum allowable size of monument signs in the PMIX District (Planned Mixed Use) is 72 sq. ft. sign face area and 96 sq. ft. structure area. The applicant proposes installing the internally illuminated monument sign along the SW property line to take advantage of the NE Lakewood Way frontage. The UDO grants the Planning Commission the authority to consider applications for signs that exceed the allowed size. Given the scale of the building and size of the development, staff supports the size of the requested sign.
The Planning Commission previously approved a 20’ tall monument sign (Appl. #PL2018-017) for this location on February 27, 2018.
