Title
Appl. #PL2018-169 Comprehensive Plan Amendment Incorprating the Community for All Ages Plan; City of Lee's Summit applicant.

Body
Issue/Request:
Planning Commission holds a public hearing on the Community for All Ages Plan prepared by the Community for All Ages Committee and adopts it by resolution into the current Comprehensive Plan.

Proposed Planning Commission Motion:
I move for staff to bring forward a resolution for the Planning Commission to adopt the Community for All Ages Plan as an amendment to the City's current Comprehensive Plan.

Background:
In 2016, the City Council made a decision for the City to participate in the Community for All Ages Recognition program and to create a Community for All Ages Plan. Community for All Ages is a program created by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) to help communities address the changing demographics in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. The program consists of three levels of recognition (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). The Bronze level consists of bringing age friendly awareness to the communities and their residents. The Silver level consists of creating a committee in the participating communities that will assess and analyze their strengths and weaknesses. The committee findings will help in the development of strategies for maintaining or improving the conditions. The Gold level consists of creating a Community for All Ages Plan for the community that will be adopted by the appropriate decision-making body of the participating jurisdiction (in Lee's Summit's case, the Planning Commission), so that implementation of the Plan's recommendations can take place from the date of the adoption into the future.

Impact/Analysis:
Becoming a recognized Community for All Ages city ensures the City's commitment to continuous efforts to make our community "age friendly", benefitting all members of the City regardless of their age and capabilities.
