FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri accepting the grant award in the amount of $450,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, for a collaboration between the City of Lee’s Summit and Hope House, Inc. on community-defined solutions to violence against women.

SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri accepting the grant award in the amount of $450,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, for a collaboration between the City of Lee’s Summit and Hope House, Inc. on community-defined solutions to violence against women.

Background:
The City of Lee's Summit, in collaboration with its non-profit, non-governmental victim services provider Hope House, Inc. will use this award to sustain the City's centralized domestic violence unit. Specifically the project will:
1. support two detectives, one city prosecutor, and one court advocate to investigate and prosecute domestic violence cases and provide victims with court accompaniment services;
