An Ordinance approving the award of Bid No. 479-324-72 for the Woods Chapel Road and NE Channel Drive signal project to Capital Electric Line Builders Inc. in the amount of $238,862.89
Key Issues:
· Traffic conditions at Woods Chapel Road and NE Channel Drive met several traffic signal warrants in March 2017
· This signal project was authorized in the FY 2018 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) adopted by Council in June of 2017
· The project will be funded from the permanent Transportation Sales Tax adopted in 1992
Proposed City Council Motion:
FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance approving the award of Bid No. 479-324-72 for the Woods Chapel Road and NE Channel Drive signal project to Capital Electric Line Builders Inc. in the amount of $238,862.89.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance approving the award of Bid No. 18532272-C for the Ward Road Improvements (County Line Road to Gore Road) to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. and authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement for the same in the amount of $3,979,743.10.
Background:
The existing intersection meets standard traffic signal warrant criteria, based on a study performed by staff in March 2017. The project will construct a new signal at the intersection of Woods Chapel Road and NE Channel Drive/NE Woods Court. The new signal will include pedestrian accommodations, such as actuated push buttons and pedestrian signals, overhead vehicular signals, vehicle detection and traffic signal interconnect. Existing sidewalk curb ramps will also be upgraded for ADA compliance. Planned lane configuration changes will also provide left turn lanes in coordination with the Pavement Management Program.
