An Ordinance amending Section 2-60.21.-Rule 2.1 Order of Business of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to authorize the Mayor to reorder the agenda to enhance the transaction of business of the City Council and generally aligning the Order of Business with the Charter of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and current practice. At the City Council meeting on May 10, 2018, Mayor Baird requested a language change to City Council Rule Section 2-60.21-Rule 2.1 Order of business. Specifically, the Mayor requested the authority to made changes to the order of business in order to allow for enhanced efficiency in the transaction of Council business.
The Committee took up the issue at both the July and August meetings. This discussion resulted in the attached ordinance. Additional language was appended to the rule to allow the Mayor to make changes that in his discretion were necessary and also to remove unnecessary surplus verbiage and language that was somewhat inconsistent with current practice.
After review and discussion, the Committee recommended approval of this ordinance to the City Council by a vote of 4-0.

FIRST MOTION: I move for a second reading of an Ordinance amending Section 2-60.21.-Rule 2.1 Order of Business of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to authorize the Mayor to reorder the agenda to enhance the transaction of business of the City Council and generally aligning the Order of Business with the Charter of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and current practice.
SECOND MOTION: I move for adoption of an Ordinance amending Section 2-60.21.-Rule 2.1 Order of Business of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to authorize the Mayor to reorder the agenda to enhance the transaction of business of the City Council and generally aligning the Order of Business with the Charter of the City of Lee’...
